“She has no fear of winter for her household, for she prepares everyone warm cloths” Proverbs 31:21

Preparing for winter at the end of summer gives us over three months of preparation. Today is Tuesday, August 25, 2026 as I sit down to write this blog. Google is telling me that the official start of winter this year is December 21, 2026. I went to the mall yesterday and saw all of the summer clothing on clearance. Such beautiful and bright colors and designs! Looking at the styles coming in for the Fall and Winter make me grieve a little for the Summer that is moving away with time every day. I just want to focus on the beauty of the summer styles but I know that like any other wise woman I must prepare for the future for my household. So, what’s my plan? Firstly, I want to bring the Summer this year into the Fall and Winter with me. WHY NOT? Colors of Summer are my favorite. I love bold pinks, blues and reds. They make me happy. Who says you have to follow all of the seasonal color trends? What are they anyway? I will find out for us so that we might be able to add a few of them to the Summer Clearance clothing that I will purposefully buy to “double up” and use throughout the Fall and Winter. One of the versions of Proverbs 31:21 says, “She is not afraid of tribulation, for all of her household is covered with dual garments of righteousness and grace. Her clothing is beautifully put together-”. This version is in The Passion Translation. It teaches us that when we are in the hardest season of tribulation (winter), we need to prepare to double up our garments to protect ourselves from the elements in the environment. The literal and physical instruction is to wear more cloths. These adornments are for a spiritual reason- righteousness and grace!
